We are already more than eager to start the New Year and share more of our experiences, knowledge and ideas with you. First, let us wrap up the first year of blogging with a top 10 Special Edition.
Through the year, we kept you up to date on the evolution of MFC, its benefits and potential application areas. We have shared 40 blogs posts with you since our launch in April, and we now proudly present the top 10 posts.
#10: Why Microfibrillated Cellulose is a completely new cellulose product
By Marianne Rosenberg Read
MFC is in many ways a commercial new concept. It is suddenly available for use and not only as a talk in the lab. Grab our hand and join us in the journey through the history of MFC, and understand why its position in the development of products will be major in the future.
#9: Why Microfibrillated Cellulose will make a difference in coatings
By Mats Hjørnevik
Let us serve you three reasons why MFC will make a difference in coatings! Mats Hjørnevik woke up with a tired neck after painting his house and therefore questioning some basics in the field of painting. Could I get away with half the work and hassle?
#8: MFC review – what is new in the patent world of Nanocellulose and MFC?
By Marianne Rosenberg Read
Every now and then, we serve you the latest from the world of MFC. We call it MFC Review. This particular post from May made a great impact on our readers. Can we use MFC to dye fabrics and textiles? Alternatively, maybe in a filtration media? Or even to improve cement-based materials?
#7: Microfibrillated Cellulose or Nanocellulose?
By Anni Karpinnen
Our eminent scientist Anni has been working on the field of MFC since 2008, and in this article she digs deeper into the differences between Microfibrillated Cellulose and Nanocellulose. Read on to find out!
#6: Safer batteries with Microfibrillated Cellulose
By Otto Soidinsalo
There’s almost no end to the possibilities when it comes to application areas for MFC. As Otto Soidinsalo writes in this article, you might even benefit from MFC in batteries! There is still lots of research to be done, but early results tells us that MFC might be appropriate as both a strengthening aid and binder for electrodes. Read on for more!
#5: Dispersion of Microfibrillated Cellulose – a critical success factor
By Marianne Rosenberg Read
When using MFC to replace your additives in both existing products and in the developing of new ones, the dispersion process is known to be a critical success factor. We’ll tell you more about this and how to best incorporate MFC in this great article.
#4: How to characterize Microfibrillated Cellulose reliably?
By Anni Karppinen
In this article, Anni gives us an introduction on how to characterize MFC reliably. She even throws in a hint list for you to run your tests and analyze the effect of MFC. Get prepared and put on that lab coat!
#3: Can Microfibrillated Cellulose (MFC) boost Enhanced Oil Recovery?
By Harald G. Rønneberg
Dr. Rønneberg gives in this blog post a great insight in the oil industry and how MFC could be used there to prolong a well’s lifetime. There are some challenges you should be aware of, though, and you can read more about them here.
#2: Water holding capacity - how Microfibrillated Cellulose does it
By Anni Karpinnen
Water holding is a crucial part of many applications. It is also one of the key properties of MFC. Here you’ll find the background of why MFC – in even small quanta – will impact the viscosity of your mixtures. And, of course, how you could benefit on this in your product development.
#1: What is Microfibrillated Cellulose (MFC)?
By Mats Hjørnevik
No wonder why this blog post is the most read article this year. Both Microfibrillated Cellulose and the abbreviation MFC is still quite new and its potential application areas are still expanding on a daily basis! This article will guide you through the basics so you could start thinking about how MFC could completely change your product.
We would like to thank you all for following our blog this year, on the exciting world of MFC. To wrap it up, it has been an exciting year for everyone who sees the potential in natural products. Research will continue to provide us with results we all could use to make this beautiful world a bit greener.
